How to create an aircraft

Aircraft are the foundation of your maintenance planning. Create an aircraft to start tracking maintenance, schedules, components, and overall airworthiness.

Before you start

Before creating an aircraft, make sure you have:

  • Aircraft registration (e.g. tail number)

  • Aircraft model

  • Basic aircraft details (manufacturer, type, etc.)

This ensures your maintenance setup is accurate from the start.

Create a new aircraft

Follow these steps to create an aircraft:

1. Go to Maintenance Planning → Aircraft
2. Click “New Aircraft”
3. Enter the aircraft details
4. Select the correct aircraft model
5. Click Save

Required information

When creating an aircraft, you typically need to provide:

  • Registration – The unique identifier for the aircraft

  • Aircraft model – Defines structure, components, and maintenance setup

  • Manufacturer / type – Basic aircraft information

Make sure this matches official documentation.

Why the aircraft model matters

The aircraft model defines how maintenance is structured.

It can include:

  • Standard maintenance schedules

  • Component structure

  • Shared configurations across similar aircraft

Selecting the correct model helps ensure consistency and compliance.

What happens next

Once the aircraft is created, you can:

  • Assign maintenance schedules

  • Create work orders

  • Track components and defects

  • Monitor aircraft status

This allows you to manage maintenance activities for the aircraft.

Tips

  • Use consistent naming for aircraft registrations

  • Always select the correct aircraft model

  • Keep aircraft data aligned with official records

  • Set up maintenance schedules early
