End-to-end maintenance workflow

This guide walks you through the complete maintenance workflow in MaintSpace. Use it to understand how planning, inventory, and execution work together in one connected process.

Overview

A complete maintenance workflow in MaintSpace follows a structured process:

Maintenance schedule → Work package → Work order → Production → Completion

Each step ensures maintenance is planned, executed, and documented correctly.

Step 1: Identify maintenance requirements

Maintenance starts with identifying what needs to be done.

This typically comes from:

  • Maintenance schedules (recurring tasks)

  • Defects (unexpected issues)

  • Operational needs

Review upcoming or due maintenance in the Maintenance Planning dashboard.

Step 2: Plan the work

Once maintenance is identified, plan how it will be performed.

You can:

  • Create a work package to group tasks

  • Define scope and timing

  • Prepare for execution

Planning helps reduce downtime and ensures efficient execution.

Step 3: Prepare parts and resources

Before starting work, make sure everything is ready.

  • Check Inventory for required parts

  • Reserve parts for the work

  • Order missing items through Purchasing

Proper preparation avoids delays during execution.

Step 4: Create work orders

Work orders define the actual work to be performed.

  • Create one or more work orders

  • Link them to the aircraft and tasks

  • Include descriptions and required actions

Work orders are the foundation for execution and documentation.

Step 5: Execute the work

Maintenance work is carried out in Production.

  • Open the work order

  • Perform the tasks

  • Use parts and tools as needed

  • Log time and activities

This ensures all work is properly tracked.

Step 6: Complete and document the work

Once work is finished:

  • Review all tasks and entries

  • Ensure all work is completed

  • Close the work order

All actions are recorded for traceability and compliance.

Step 7: Maintain records and follow up

After completion:

  • Maintenance history is stored

  • Components and status are updated

  • Future maintenance is tracked automatically

This ensures ongoing airworthiness and compliance.
